Full Bore - Outdoor Range

Situated in a disused quarry, the Parracombe range is a 100 metre range and is privately owned. There is a covered firing point at 100 metres. The enclosing walls isolate you from the outside and there is something of a lost-world feel about the place. The trees, shrubs and heather soften the rough contours, but you are frequently reminded that you are high on Exmoor. The wind eddying around the quarry can sometimes test your accuracy, especially with the smaller calibers.

The range is available on dates shown on the club notice board and  on the Clubs Members section of our site. This is a private range and there is an additional range fee of £15.00 for members.
Invited Guest may participate providing they have meet the IDRPC  Home Office License criteria (see FAQ). There is also an additional charge of £5.00 (currently under review) as well as the range fee.

Please note that we currently do not shoot any formal NSRA competition cards at this range.
We do however use another NSRA club at Long Ashton for this purpose.

IDRPC has a Home Office License for Full Bore Fire Arms. The range permits muzzle energies no greater than 4000 foot pounds (5423.27 joule)

Activities available to members

Small Bore out-door Training

50 Meters Prone Position is shot on NSRA MM 12 C 1996 Cards, 5 shots per target, and 2 targets per card, and typically 2 cards(4 targets) per round/match.
100 Yard Prone Position is shot on NSRA 1001C 1996 Cards, 10 shots per target, and 1 target per card, typically 2 cards(2 targets) per round/match.

Shooting in the wind brings into play windage and elevation variables.

The flag illustrated will push the round to the right. The shooter would either have to aim off to the left or adjust their rear sites.

Full Bore Training

The range is limited to 100 yards. However this still offers the experience to start your journey into the F-Class where competitions are shot from 300 meters to 1000 yards with open sites.

Training and familiarisation with the .308 calibre and windage are the foundation blocks.

Full Bore on a Rest

An extension to the small bore Bench-rest discipline using telescopic sites at 100 yards. Different rifles and different loading actions.

The club has no formal competition in this category, however informal internal competitions are often held. The Club has two full-bore rifles with either scopes or open sites available for members providing the Clubs on duty Range Officer at the range has been given sufficient notice.
